Meet Jeremy Bertrand Finch, author of many of our The Twilight Zone Scripts!

Born in Burbank, California, to a Norwegian father and an American Indian mother, Jeremy attended public and private schools in the Los Angeles area before graduating from California State University Sonoma in 1974.

He founded an independent film company in New York City but returned to Los Angeles to develop a career in screenwriting. Honing his craft at night, he worked days for a wide range of employers including the international aid and development agency, C.A.R.E., and the entertainment newspaper, Daily Variety. He began writing professionally for film and television in 1982 and has written and co-written over 200 episodes of network and syndicated television. He has also produced and directed nearly fifty episodes of reality-based TV shows.

An enrolled member of his mother’s tribe, in 2002 Jeremy relocated to a horse ranch on tribal land in Oklahoma and became deeply involved in American Indian cultural and political affairs. In recognition of his broad knowledge of tribal history and cultural life-ways, he was called upon by tribal leaders to design, build, and staff his tribe’s cultural heritage center.

In 2009, he retired from his official position with the tribe and now divides his time between writing, training his horses, and straight dancing at local pow-wows and festivals. He is blissfully married to the love of his life, Mardesia Sapien Finch, and has five children, three sons and two daughters, ranging in age from 23 years to 1 year old.

Ranked by TV Guide as one of the TV Guide’s 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time, The Twilight Zone is the legendary American anthology television series created by Rod Serling, which ran for five seasons on CBS from 1959 to 1964. The series consisted of unrelated episodes depicting paranormal, futuristic, dystopian, or simply disturbing events; each show typically featured a surprising plot twist and usually ended with some sort of message.

In 1985, shortly after Steven Spielberg’s theatrical homage to the original series Twilight Zone: The Movie, CBS green light  a brand new series of Twilight Zone stories for the small screen. Written and directed by young writers and filmmakers eager to make their mark on a series which had proved influential to their life and work—people like writers Harlan Ellison, George R. R. Martin,Rockne S. O’Bannon, Jeremy Bertrand Finch, Paul Chitlik and directors Wes Craven and William Friedkin – created a new series of timeless tales of adventure, terror, promise and hope.

Casts featured such stars as Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Season Hubley, Morgan Freeman, Martin Landau, Jonathan Frakes, and Fred Savage. New theme music was composed by Jerry Garcia and performed by The Grateful Dead.

The Repatriation of Henry Chin is the debut novel for Isaac Ho, SF Weekly Black Box Award-winning playwright of Along for the Ride and Stephen N. Gershenson Screenwriting Award-winning writer of 1,001 Ways to Enjoy the Missionary Position, a feature-film starring Amanda Plummer.

The idea for the novel came to Ho after seeing the breathless ease of numerous opinion wielders — many of them Asian American — invoke the idea of internment camps to deal with many of the issues of security facing our country.

“Did we learn nothing from the 1940s,” says Ho, referring to the camps created to house the Japanese during World War II and the suspicion German-Americans also had to endure. “We live in a world that is far too complex to be reduced to talking head sound bites and simple solutions to complex problems. Repatriation offers one alternative view of the consequences of sound bite solutions.”
